Who can be a candidate for cosmetic rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is a highly individualized procedure. You must do it for yourself, not to satisfy the desires of others or to try to conform to an ideal image. You may be a good candidate for rhinoplasty in Tunisia if:
• Your facial growth is complete
• You are in good physical condition
• You do not smoke
• You have a positive attitude and realistic goals to improve your appearance
How is the rhinoplasty procedure performed?
The Tunisia rhinoplasty intervention includes the following steps:
Stage 1 – anesthesia
Medications will be administered for your convenience during the operation. You can choose between intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. The doctor will help you make the best choice.
Step 2 – incisions
Rhinoplasty is done either using a closed procedure, where the incisions in the nose are hidden, or an open procedure, where an incision is made through the columella, that is, the narrow strip of tissue that separates nostrils. These incisions gently lift the skin covering the bones and cartilage of the nose, allowing access to reshape the nasal structure.
Step 3 – nose reshaping in Tunisia
A nose that is too big can be reduced by removing the bones or cartilage. In some cases, nose surgery in Tunisia can lead to the addition of cartilage grafts. Most often, the cartilage of the septum, the septum in the middle of the nose, is used for this. Sometimes cartilage from the ear or, rarely, a section of costal cartilage can be used.
Step 4 – Correcting a Deviated Septum
If the septum is deviated, it can be straightened and the protrusions reduced to improve breathing.
Step 5 – Close the incision
As soon as the underlying structure of the nose has been shaped into the desired shape, the skin and nasal tissue are again removed and the incisions are closed. Additional incisions can be made in the natural folds of the nose to alter its size.
What should I expect after nose surgery?
One week after the operation, the plaster can be removed to reveal the new profile of the nose. Some swelling from surgery may last a few weeks before gradually disappearing. The final result should be visible after a few months. A change in the contour of the nose can be noticed within the first year after the operation. There is nothing to worry about, it is completely normal. It is best not to do strenuous exercise for the first four weeks after the operation.
What are the possible risks and complications of nose surgery?
Risks and potential complications of rhinoplasty include:
• Risks of anesthesia
• Numbness or pain
• Difficulty breathing
• Infection
• Perforation of the nasal septum (a hole in the nasal septum) is rare.
• Poor healing or scarring
• Possibility of revision surgery
• Discoloration and swelling of the skin
• Unsatisfactory nasal appearance These risks and many others will be reviewed in detail before the procedure. It is important that you discuss all your questions directly with your plastic surgeon.
What are the results of cosmetic nose surgery?
The results of nose surgery will be long lasting. While the initial swelling subsides within a few weeks, it can sometimes take up to a year for your new nose contour to fully refine. In the meantime, you may notice gradual changes in the appearance of your nose as it thins out for a more permanent result. As your body ages, it’s natural for your face, including your nose, to gradually change. However, the majority of your upgrades should be more or less permanent. A healthy lifestyle and lifetime sun protection will help prolong the results of your new look.
